It will highlight the latest innovations in the field of solar energy and sustainable energy by providing a unique platform to build partnerships between the public and private sectors to develop innovative solutions.

About Pakistan's solar energy market

Pakistan usually solves the power shortage by building large-scale coal, oil, hydropower and some solar projects, and energy reserves can benefit Pakistan. Moreover, as many countries around the world are investing heavily in renewable and clean energy industries, Pakistan is taking the stand of environmentalists who criticize and reject reliance on coal-fired projects as part of a plan to urgently increase the power generation capacity of new energy.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Pakistan's average energy demand is about 19,000 megawatts, while the power generation is about 15,000 megawatts, and supply exceeds demand. During the peak summer hours from May to July, demand exceeded 20,000 megawatts, as summer air conditioning systems placed an additional burden on the national grid, often leading to power outages. The International Energy Agency predicts that as the population increases, total electricity demand will increase to more than 49,000 megawatts by 2025. To address the immediate need, the convergence of domestic renewable energy generation and energy storage technologies has become a rapid, effective and affordable solution, which can also reduce the cost of power infrastructure expansion, operation and maintenance to almost zero.

The energy storage system, which is a planned renewable energy project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), can be fully utilized by Pakistan, including a solar power park, four wind farms and three hydroelectric power plants, with a total power generation capacity of about 390 million kilowatts and a cost of about US$7.5 billion. Pakistan Alternative Energy Development points out that Pakistan has the potential to generate 2.9 million megawatts of solar power, 340,000 megawatts of wind power and 100,000 megawatts of hydropower per year.
